People with HIV are sometimes treated differently and often in a worse way than other people simply because of their HIV status.

This discrimination takes many forms and may result in:

• potential loss of family, friends and sexual partners

• potential loss of income or job opportunities

• potential problems with insurance and mortgages

• potential problems with international travel
