You may have to arrange an appointment up to 4 weeks in advance but there is a walk-in clinic, where no appointment is necessary, from 8.30am until 10.00am, Monday to Friday. Currently there are no evening clinics. It may be possible to have a same day HIV test if you think you are at high risk. These are only available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8.30am and 9.30am with results available from 4.00pm the same day. To arrange a same day test you should ask to speak to a health advisor when you contact the clinic.

If you choose to have your test at GUM your results will be totally confidential and you can request a full sexual health check-up which can be done at the same time as your HIV test. For men, this normally involves a swab from the penis, a urine sample and a blood test. You may also have a rectal and throat swab taken.

Appointments can normally be arranged within 1 – 2 weeks. Same day tests are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 8.45am and 10.30am. Results are available within 48 hours for tests done on:
Mondays 9.00am – 5.00pm, Tuesdays 9.00am – 7.00pm,
Fridays 9.00am – 4.30pm
