WELCOME TO GAY MEN’S HEALTH

Gay relationships are in many ways no different from heterosexual relationships.  We all fall in love and form committed relationships where there can be good and bad times.  There are no rules that gay relationships must follow – everyone is free to make up their own rules and how a relationship works out – will depend on how two people feel about each other and not their sexual orientation.

Our need to express out emotions in a relationship can be strong but our skills in doing this weak.  Recognising our need for closeness and affection from other guys can take a while to get used to.  It can sometimes be confusing to hear these emotions or needs expressed to us from the guys we know or love.  If we expect to have all our needs for intimacy and affection fulfilled by one guy – then too much pressure can be placed on him.  We can’t expect them to perform as a super human – being a lover, friend and counsellor all in one.

It’s healthy to keep and develop other friendships outside the relationship.
