What happens at the clinic?

You will be seen by a Health Advisor both at the time you have the blood test and when you return for the result.

The Health Advisor can answer any questions you have about the test or the result. You can ask anything you want and talk about any fears you may have in relation to the test.

A small blood sample is then taken usually from your arm.

If you have requested a “same day test” your results will be available later in the afternoon of the day you have your test.

You must return to the clinic to get your result when you will again be seen by the Health Advisor who can provide information on services and agencies you may want to contact if your result is positive.

HIV test results cannot be given over the phone.
