WELCOME TO GAY MEN’S HEALTH

LUBE

When using condoms make sure you use plenty of water-based lube (such as KY or any lube that you find with free condom packs).

Re-apply the lube often as this will help prevent your condom from breaking. Never use oil based lubes (baby oil, Vaseline, olive oil, most moisturisers, etc) as these can damage the condom causing it to split.

Using plenty of lube makes it less likely that HIV will be transmitted. Lots of lube when you fuck means that there is less chance of damage to your cock or arse which makes it safer for both of you.

The amount of lube you use is more important than the thickness of the condom. Do not lube your cock before you put on a condom as this will increase the chance of the condom slipping off.

Lube alone (i.e. without condoms) will not provide you with sufficient protection from HIV or much else.
